Science Technician

Salary: Grade 4 £16,764 (point 7) to £18,146 (point 11) per annum - actual salary to reflect term time working.

The Role

We currently have a vacancy for an experienced technician to provide efficient and effective support to the science department.

The role will have responsibility for the preparation, distribution and retrieval of apparatus, textbooks, worksheets, tests and other materials for lessons; including setting up and assisting teaching staff with science practical's and demonstrations when required. The roles will also have responsibility for the science preparation room; checking and maintaining the safety of equipment, controlling stock, maintaining stock records and storing and disposing of surplus chemicals in compliance with current regulations etc.

The roles will be subject to completion of a successful 6 month probationary period.

What we're looking for

Suitable candidates will possess a grade c/4 or above in maths, English and science. With previous experience of working in a school laboratory, you will demonstrate a solid understanding of the health and safety regulations applicable to a laboratory environment. You must be an excellent team player with the ability to establish and maintain good relationships with both students and colleagues alike, and must be adaptable to meet the varying demands of the job.

As a member of the Academy's Student Support Team you will support our students to achieve their challenging targets. The School

Manchester Health Academy opened in September 2009 and is sponsored by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. In September 2010 the Academy moved into a £20 million state-of-the-art building and to accommodate a growing student population we have just completed a further £10 million expansion project.
