The position will be to support a child in Key Stage with Special Educational Needs. The child has a diagnosis of Down's Syndrome and developmental delay. The initial contract will run until 31st August and is renewed on a yearly basis. The role will be to assist the class teacher in helping to support the child in the following areas: developing fine and gross motor skills, implementing plans outlined by the class teacher and by Speech and Language, promoting independence and social inclusion, assisting with personal care, developing ability in phase 3-5 phonics.
We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant who is supportive, patient and resilient and who has ideally worked previously with children who have a diagnosis of Down's Syndrome. Previous training to support children with Down's Syndrome would also be desirable but not essential.
